  1. I teach 1st and 3rd year Spanish. Yes, learning grammar in a 2nd language is all about patterns. 2nd language learners use the syntactic patterns from their 1st language to make sense of their 2nd language. During the training session, I found that for grammar, I was using lots of flow and tree maps for grammar and for vocabulary, I was using circle, bubble and bridge maps in order to make sense of the vocabulary and then personalize it.

  2. TM are a strong tool for students learning a new language. The brand new course Thinking Maps: Path to Proficiency course is all about using the maps with ELL and has some amazing ideas. Created by the author of Write From the Beginning and Write For the Future, Jane Buckner. Jane was just in your district in June teaching secondary teachers about the writing components.

  3. What a great idea! Let’s share our successes with the maps. As an independent consultant for Thinking Maps, I have the privilege to work with many schools, trainers, and witness the benefits of these strategies. The maps are tools for students, teachers, and administrators. Keep thinking and keep mapping!
